Long Spade Leaf & Elephant Motif

We've already told you about the structure and function of this holster so will talk a bit about the possibilities of the tooling. You are not limited to the elephant shown. Virtually any animal can be substituted. Or, if desired, a brand or initials can be substituted as easily.

Maricopa Askins Tension Screw

Light mahogany

Askins Tension Screw

Maricopa Floral

The tensions screw on this type of holster not only allows for an initial adjustment when the holster is new, but allows tightening as the holster ages. It also allows modest tweaking for heat and cold or for changes in humidity. This one is raked for a high crossdraw.

Calhoun's Floral

Calhoun is an old friend of ours out of California. When he asked us to make a holster and belt for his Glock 19, we simply couldn't react with a temper tantrum. (Glocks are not generally part of our daily ops.) Well, once we got going, we had to admit that black on black on black would work. Our only regret is not being able to get our mitts on a 19 and having to show the holster with an aluminum blank in it.

Askins Competitor

Ocean Flame Border

While we probably wouldn't recommend this as the perfect holster for extreme activity or barreling along on a quad, it will do nicely for less strenous day-to-day carry or for competition.

Pancake

Elko Rose Floral

We were asked very politely by Roy Huntington, editor of American Handgunner Magazine if we would like to donate a piece for the First Shots Auction that took place in 2015 as part of the Masters Shooting Tournament. Our donation was this holster, a pancake for a 3" officer's style 1911.

SHark Askins

Askins

None

This is our standard Askins in a medium FBI rake done completely with shark. There is our usual bit of stealth reinforcement in the throat which negates the need for a reinforcement patch and gives the holster a mean, clean look.

Light Mahogany (The photo shows the color slightly more red than the holster actually is.)

Askins Tension Screw

Sunset and Furstnow Border

There are a ton of borders out there. This is one of our oldies but goodies, bold but not outrageous. Good for day to day carry and just over the top enough to bring a jealous grin from a compadre at the range or your next barbeque.

Improved Field with Open Top

The Improved Field holster is a minimalist holster. A bit old school compared to some, but very, very useful for those who like just enough leather to do the job. This one is shown in a high FBI rake. There is a single tunnel loop in the back. It is shown without any sort of a border other than a formal cut line. It holds the Smith & Wesson M&P Shield very convenientlyand in high style.

Harp, Double Shuffle and Hawk Stomp Tooling

Some of our customers prefer "full coverage" over the surface of their holsters. Some like a basketstamp or our Hamley geometrics. Others choose carved motifs. The Hawk Stomp is another way to skin the same cat. Moreover, it helps to hide the day's scrapes and scuffs. It is also quite uncommon.

Buckaroo Loop, Chain & 4-Point Star Border

Another Classic Border. This dates back to the end of the last century. It is as at home now with the 1911 it contains as it was when it was still a young and untried portion of the holster makers tool box. (Not saying Purdy is that ancient. She just likes history.)

Sunflower with Repeating 9's Border

When in Rome, one does as the Romans. When in Kansas, one celebrates the sunflower. Pardon our use of the SIG 220 gun blank rather than the real thing.

With a set of grips like this, it would have been a bit pointless to do something else. The picture does not actually do it the justice it deserves.
